Welcome new and returning students!

We are looking forward to working with all of you this upcoming year and making beautiful music together.

Piano lessons are available from September to June with an optional summer session. They are individual (private) lessons and take place at our home studio in West Sechelt and at St. Hilda’s Anglican Church or online. Students typically come once a week for 30-minute, 45-minute or 60-minute lessons. We accept students from ages 3-adult. Beginners are welcome.

Regular practice is expected in order for students to achieve their musical goals and to ensure progress. Students need to have their own instrument at home for practice. We can suggest affordable options for you and your family in terms of selecting a suitable instrument. Acoustic pianos are strongly recommended instead of digital keyboards in order to develop proper piano technique.

There are many performing opportunities available throughout the year: Studio Recitals, Sunshine Coast Festival of the Performing Arts, Elves Club Telethon, BCRMTA Recitals and Royal Conservatory Exams. We also help prepare students for school talent shows, college or university auditions and other special events.

Absences

Regular attendance at weekly lessons is very important for continuity and progression in a student’s musical development. We ask you to please provide 24 hours’ notice for missed lessons. Make-up lessons are at the discretion of the teacher. Students should stay home if sick.

Safety

For safety reasons, we do not allow children to play on the beach unattended by an adult. For lessons with Katherine at St. Hilda’s Anglican Church, please use the glass door by the courtyard into the “West Transept”. Please check our website for updated information. Have a great year and please feel free to contact Carl or Katherine to discuss any concerns or needs that may arise.
